Mrs. Khorshed R. Javeri is a rank holder of the Bombay University with an Honors degree in Economics and Politics and a further degree in Law. She is presently a practicing attorney of the Bombay High Court, her firm offering specialty advice in all aspects of corporate law, and serving as retained counsel to several public and private companies.

She has authored three books. The first “The Company Secretary’s Handbook”, the foreword for which was written by the Late J.R.D. Tata, the then Chairman of the Tata Group of Companies, was followed by “Capital Issues - the Law and Methodology”. Both were reprinted within months. The third co-authored in collaboration with the Late M. K. Rustomji (who had written books with C. Northcote Parkinson) titled “Law and Tax For The Layman" went into five editions. The “Mother and Other Short Stories” is her first book of fiction. The Book has been reprinted within nine months.

The first lady to be admitted to the Tata Administrative Service, she went on to become Company Secretary and Chief Corporate Counsel for Tata Steel, the largest private sector company at the time. She has been a Director of several Tata Group companies and multinationals such as CITIBANK (NA) and is even today on the Corporate Board of several public and private companies including SSC&B Lintas Lowe. She was a monthly columnist for the Economic Times, one of India’s leading papers for over twenty years, writing on salient changes in legislation.

Mrs. Javeri is also actively involved with volunteer and non-profit organizations. She is a Trustee of the J. J. Dharamshala - a home for the aged destitute and on the Managing Committee of a school for deaf children. She is currently associated with the setting up of a Foundation for the Upliftment of women in India. She is married to a Chartered Accountant and has two children, and lives in Bombay.
