I have written these stories because I love to write.
As a child, I wrote letters to anyone willing to receive them. Later, when legal and administrative work absorbed most of my working hours, I wrote books on legal subjects and a monthly column for "The Economic Times". Perhaps because they brought me so much pleasure, they were highly successful and popular. My first book “The Company Secretary’s Handbook”, was reprinted within a few months. My book “Law and Tax For The Layman" co-authored by the late M.K. Rustomji went into five editions in as many years.
These stories have been written over a period of time mainly to satisfy the craving to write, and the pleasure accompanying their writing. They deal with everyday and common place situations to which all of us can relate. most of them revolve around old world values which though rare today are not yet extinct. For this reason, they may not appeal to readers looking for steamy sex; but I would like to think that there is nevertheless a class of readers for whom they would have a special appeal.
None of these stories is based on any real person. However, the story "The Mother" is to some extent an ode to my Mother, and to those mothers who willingly sacrifice all their pleasures to bring up their children and the loneliness that descends on them once the children have moved into their won - often better - world.
I have enjoyed every minute of time I have spent in writing these stories. If they bring to my readers even a fraction of joy I experienced in writing them, I shall be satisfied.
